DC Motor Speed Control using Artificial Neural Network
MANNU SHARMA
Abstract:
This paper presents an insight into the speed control of DC motor using artificial neural network controller to
meet the desired speed. The neural network scheme consist of two parts: one is neural estimator, which is used to estimate
the motor speed and the other is the neural controller, which is used to generate a control signal for a converter. These
two neural networks are trained by feed forward neural network algorithm. Simulation results are presented to
demonstrate the effectiveness and advantage of control system of DC motor with ANN in comparison with conventional
control scheme. For the comparison we used PID control.

Modeling and Simulation of Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) Temperature Controller for an Electric Kettle
J. S. Madugu
Abstract:
Proportional-Derivative-Integral control has been a dominant strategy used in
industry to control temperature and other processes. However, their use in
simple appliances such as electric kettle has not been widespread. With the
increasing concern for energy and convenience, attention is being focused on
how to develop simple and cost efficient controllers that will reduce energy
waste. In this study, a mathematical model of an electric kettle is developed
using the lumped parameter model. The characteristics transfer function of
the system was obtained using the open-response characteristics. A PID
controller was then designed for the process while MATLAB Simulink
model was developed. The model was then simulated. The results show
increase in overshoot from 5%−12.5%, rise time 230−300 seconds, settling
time 720−750 seconds and zero steady-state error between 50 oC−80 oC.

Pt(II) And Ru(III) Complexes Of 5-Substituted-4-Amino-3-Mercapto-1, 2, 4-Triazole Schiff Base: Synthesis, Spectral Characterization And Antimicrobial Studies
Grace E. Iniama, Ededet A. Eno
Abstract:
Complexes of Pt(II) and Ru(II)1
ions made from a Schiff base ligand derived from 2-
hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde and 4-amino-3-mercepto-5-propyl-1,2,4-triazole were
synthesized. Characterization was done on the basis of some physicochemical parameters;
infrared and uv-visible spectroscopic studies. The ligand acted as a bidentate molecule
coordinating through NS heteroatoms to Pt(II) ion and as a tridentate coordinating through
NSO donor atoms to Ru(II) ion. The experimental data obtained were in affirmation with
many documented literatures that revealed the complexes to exist as square planar and
octahedral geometrical configurations for Pt(II) and Ru(II)ions respectively. The
synthesized chelates were screened against some species of bacteria such as
Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyrogones, and fungi such as Candida albican and
Aspergillus Niger using the disc diffusion method and broth agar method. The metal
complexes showed better potency as antimicrobial agents than the free ligand and even
when compared to the standard, they fair better and therefore, can serve as effective drugs
against these pathogens

THE ANALYSIS OF THE CIVIL AVIATION PASSENGER TRAFFIC BASED ON THE IMPROVED MULTIPLE LINEAR REGRESSION MODEL
Fenghua Xu, Liguo Huang
Abstract:
By weakening the correlation between variables, the general
multivariate linear regression model is improved.Based on the
improved multivariate linear regression analysis, a regression
model of civil aviation passenger volume is2154
established. And the regression model of civil aviation
passenger volume gives the influence of different influencing
factors on civil aviation passenger volume, and forecasts the
passenger volume of civil aviation. The improved general
multivariate linear regression model can weaken the influence
of multicollinearity regression model and can got more
reasonable results for economic structural analysis.

THE PLACE OF MATHEMATICS EDUCATION IN ADDRESSING ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT AND JOB CREATION IN NIGERIA
Edeoga Benjamin Odo
Abstract:
Entrepreneurship and job creation development has become a great concern to
mathematics educators in view of the unprecedented increase in unemployment in Nigeria.
The basic problem in mathematics education is how to make students apply mathematical
knowledge and skills in future outside the classroom context. Mathematics education
provides a solid foundation for everyday life in individual by developing the ability of
precision, logical, abstract thinking and ability to be accurate in solving real life problems.
Entrepreneurship and job creation encourages self employment or self-reliance which
depends highly on the proper acquisition of knowledge and skills in mathematics
education. Entrepreneurs have the passion among other traits that enhance their business
because the business creates jobs for them and they believe that their business success is
their personal success. The paper discusses on the meaning of entrepreneurship,
entrepreneurship development in Nigeria, mathematics education and entrepreneurship
development, and factors that enhance entrepreneurship and job creation in Nigeria. If the
individual has mathematics skills and knowledge, he can take decision on his own,
consultant and could be able to solve problems hence he can stay on his own as an
entrepreneur. He can be an employee of mathematics educators.
