The Malabar Moplah Rebellion 1920-22
Dr. Parveen Singh
Abstract:
The Moplahs rebellion was started with the exploitative agrarian policies or systems adopted
by the Britishers in Malabar taluqa of Madras Presidency. They created a class of landlords
through these agrarian system in the form of ‘Jenmis’, who were predominantly Hindus, had
two pronged programmes, one, is to extract as much as money possible in the form of
agriculture revenue , and secondly, helping the Britishers in administering the Malabar taluqa.
The system of revenue collection generated a long chain of intermediaries who were exploiting
each other and finally burden falls on the last in the agrarian hierarchy i.e. the
‘verumpattamdars’- the poor peasants, who were mostly Muslims Moplahs. These Moplahs
were not finding any solution of their grievances within the existing system of governance and
thus, fell into clutches of Muslim fundamentalism, became fanatic and aggressively violent both
against the Britishers and their protégé, the jenmis. The British government rather than finding
any solution resorted to severe repression.

A STUDY ON REGULATORY FRAMEWORK OF MERGERS IN INDIA UNDER
THE COMPANIES ACT, 2013, RULES UNDER INCOME TAX ACT, 1961, SEBI
REGULATIONS, 2015 AND INDIAN STAMP ACT, 1899.
V.SANTHOSH, DR.VEERAMANI
Abstract:
A merger is a combination of two or more entities into one. The mergers seen during
the last ten years in the Indian market shows how important mergers are to companies. The
law relating to merger is dealt under chapter XV of Companies Act, 2013. Mergers and
acquisitions may be undertaken to access the market through an established brand, to get a
market share, to eliminate competition, to reduce tax liabilities or to acquire competence or to
set off accumulated losses of one entity against the profits of other entity.A business may
grow over time as the utility of its products and services is recognized. It may also grow
through an inorganic process, symbolized by an instant expansion in work force, customers,
infrastructure resources and an overall increase in the revenues and profits of the entity.
Mergers and acquisitions are activities of an inorganic growth process. From a legal point of
view, a merger is a legal consolidation of two entities into one entity, whereas an acquisition
occurs when one entity takes ownership of another entity's stock, equity interests or assets.
This paper will analyze the theoretical and legal aspects of mergers in India.

EFFECT OF PSYCHO-SOCIAL FACTORS ON LONELINESS
Jagvir Singh Maan
Abstract:
“Loneliness” as a phenomenon that has given rise to such of being alone, solitude alienation,
isolation and loneliness in anxiety. Man is a social animal. He cannot live life alone.
Loneliness needs not coincide with aloneness, as both are not the same. Loneliness refers to
the subjective discomfort we feel when our social relationship lack some important feature. It
is our nature and need to meet people, spend time with them, party and celebrate together. On
the contrary, if someone lives alone, does not get along with people, there are no people who
spend time with him, and then it is considered a big problem. This is the reason why
loneliness has been used as a punishment. People are imprisoned alone in jails. The mentally
ill are kept alone with chains. Loneliness is so dangerous that loneliness is being given the
status of disease in many countries today. People are being provided psychological help to
deal with loneliness. So, is loneliness really dangerous and should be avoided at all costs?
How much you get from your family and friends affects your health a lot. Loneliness makes
you sick and not just mentally, physically. Loneliness is a painful awareness that one‟s social
relationships are less meaningful than one desire. Keeping this viewpoint the present study
“Effect of psychosocial factors on loneliness” has been taken up.

AN ANALYSISOF COSTS AND RETURNS OF ORGANIC AND NON-ORGANIC AGRICULTURE
Jasbir Kaur, Dr. Shakuntla Gupta
Abstract:
In the recent development efforts, the economic benefits have been given more preference than the social
and environmental benefits. These attempts have negatively affected the ecosystem and resulted in interruptions in
the natural cycles. The organic agriculture is notified as one such attempt which has helped to increase the
environmental sustainability. Socially, it increases the employment opportunities leading to labour welfare along
with the consumer protection and food security. Economically, it provides higher price to the farmers to fulfill the
higher cost of cultivation. Punjab, the trendsetter state of Green Revolution, has very high consumption of fertilizers
and pesticides. In this regard, it is indispensable to have an insight of costs and returns of organic agriculture in
Punjab. No doubt, the techniques developed during the period of green revolution are profit oriented, but these
techniques and methods are opposed to the environment as well as to the health of individuals. Punjab has been the
forerunner of Green Revolution in India and therefore, its worse effects have been visible here. In this regard,
Organic agriculture is viewed as an alternative method for the sustainability of ecology in the state of Punjab. The
main aim of the present study is to examine the costs as well returns in organic and non-organic wheat and paddy
cultivation. An effort has also been made in the present study to suggest policy measures to promote organic
agriculture in Punjab. In order to fulfill the objectives of the study, the first hand information/primary data has been
collected by making use of well prepared questionnaire. The study has been conducted in Nabha area of Punjab
state due to large area covered under organic agriculture here. A sample of 100 farmers doing organic as well as
non-organic agriculture has been taken. The study brings out the efficient results to prove the relevance of organic
agriculture. Its adoption is beneficial to the farmers as they are going through the disastrous period. Despite the
low yield and high costs in organic agriculture, its gross as well as net returns are high. It will be more beneficial
for the farmers, especially the marginal farmers of Punjab which are under debt. With the adoption of organic
agriculture they can come out of the debt trap which would improve their economic condition also.

A Study of Non-Performing Assets of Banks and it's recuperation in India
Bhawana Kumari, Dr. Sanjay Biyani
Abstract:
The Indian financial part has been confronting difficult issues of raising Non-Performing Assets
(NPAs). The NPAs development directly affects productivity of banks. Non-performing
resources are one of the significant worries for booked business banks in India. The proposals of
Narasimham advisory group and Verma board, a few stages have been taken to tackle the issue
of old NPAs yet to be determined sheets of the banks. It keeps on being communicated from
each corner that there has once in a while been any deliberate assessment of the best method of
handling the issue. There is by all accounts no unanimity in the correct approaches to be
followed in settling this issue. NPAs mirror the presentation of banks. An elevated level of
NPAs proposes high likelihood of an enormous number of credit defaults that influence the
productivity furthermore, total assets of banks and furthermore dissolves the estimation of the
benefit. NPAs influence the liquidity and gainfulness, notwithstanding presenting danger on
nature of benefit and endurance of banks. The issue of NPAs isn't just influencing the banks yet
in addition the entire economy. Truth be told elevated level of NPAs in Indian banks is only an
impression of the condition of strength of the business and exchange. It is important to tend to
down NPAs to improve the budgetary wellbeing in the financial framework. An endeavor is
made in this paper to get NPA, the status and pattern of NPAs in Indian Scheduled business
banks, the variables adding to NPAs, explanations behind high effect of NPAs on planned
business banks in India and recuperation of NPAS through different channels

EFFECTING INCLUSIVENESS THORUGH MAINSTREAMING THE MINORITIES—
A STUDY IN THE CURRICULAR CONTEXT
Sudhakar Sardar, Dr. Pratap Kumar Panda
Abstract:
The present study dealing with the concept of inclusion has been studied with reference to the
The Salamanca Statement (1944) covering, while defining inclusive education, the inclusion of
“children from linguistic, ethnic or cultural minorities and children from other disadvantaged or
marginalised areas or groups”. While „cultural inclusion‟ denotes the absorption of the cultural
aspects of the said minorities in the school curriculum, the term „mainstreaming‟ connotes
making the learners feel comfortable in the schools that are availed of by the majority learners,
though basically the term „mainstreaming‟ gained ground in the context of “exposing the
disabled to an educational experience as close to that of non-disabled as possible” (Dash 51).
The study tries to find out if indifference to the culture of the socioeconomically disadvantaged
learners is a considerable variable in their shunning the so-called mainstream educational centres
that basically deal with the dominating culture of the socio-politically dominating community.
Efforts are also put to finding, if any, an association between the concept of „affective filter
hypothesis‟, a part of what is known as „Input Hypothesis‟ in relation to acquisition of
knowledge, as propounded by linguist Stephen Krashen, in the context of the acquisition of a
language and the preference of the Madrasahs by the Muslim pupils or the drop-out of the tribal
learners from the so-called normal schools, especially dominated by the teachers belonging to
the culturally majority group

Dr.Mala kumari
Abstract:
The special issue on psychosocial studies of migration and community, we briefly reflect on the
global increase in, and issues related to, both international and domestic migration, particularly
from rural areas of less developed countries, which has fueled rapid urbanization and
intercultural tensions in both post-industrial and developing countries. Quarry workers form a
major part of the work force of the unorganised industrial sector. Various psychosocial stressors
makes quarry workers vulnerable to various psychological disorders. The current study focuses
on psychological distress, disability levels and the quality of community life existing among
quarry workers. The results show that there is a significant positive correlation between
psychological distress and disability. The community of quarry workers live in pathetic
conditions. Statistics reveal that 97.6% have no sanitation, toilet or drainage facilities. The
implications of the results are discussed and the need for professional guidance from psychiatric

Understanding The Social Sector, Economic Growth, Social
Development And Economic Development in India:A Study
Arun Kumar Suman
Abstract:
Focusing on either economic growth or on human development may result in unbalanced growth
of the economy, which may jeopardize the very process of long-term development. It needs to be
recognized that High Gap, has often failed to transform into better living conditions of the
masses, particularly where the fruits of development and distribution of income have been
uneven. The role of government in framing a coordinated policy measures, which ensures even
distribution of income, basic capabilities for a more participatory economic growth is crucial to
establish a relationship between economic growth and human development. It is expected that an
increase in the general level of per capita income is likely to increase the demand for education
and health care, and may improve the human development of a country. Secondly, economic
growth associated with poverty reduction may enable the poorer sections of the population to
enjoy the fruits of growth and thus, may have a better impact on the human development
indicators.

LANDUSE OF RURAL SETTLEMENT IN NAWADA DISTRICT A GEOGRAPHICAL STUDY
Dr.Kalpana Sinha
Abstract:
The term „Land‟ is referred to as „The solid surface of the earth where it is not
covered by water‟ or „A part of the earth‟s surface marked off by natural or
political boundaries‟ But, its surface utilization of all developed and vacent land on
a specific point at a given time and space is called land use. This “leads one back
to the village farm and the farmers, to the fields, gardens, pastures, fallow land,
forests and to the isolated farmstead”1
In other words, the term „land use‟ is
generally adopted to mean man‟s activities which are directly related to the land. It
is an activity or development which occupies land. It could also be called „human
use of land‟ or „ human activities on land‟ which means that this idea deals as
much with people as with land. Land-use is distinct from other parts naturally or
politically, for economic, or cultural reasons.

base of all practices monitoring production of agriculture. Over exploitation
of land & water resources create substantial changes in the land use which
have hostile consequence to the natural environment. As the land resources
have been sole resources of sustenance of mankind, the timely mapping,
management and monitoring of land resources became a prime requisite for
developmental management of natural resources. Latest technologies like
Geo-informatics have developed as significant tools in present era for
management and monitoring of water and land resources. Thus the novelty of
the present research is to access the soil and water resources in Hisar district.

Investing in Financial Markets: An Analysis of Risks
Ruchi
Abstract:
In the financial world, risk management is the process of identification, analysis and acceptance
or mitigation of uncertainty in investment decisions. Essentially, risk management occurs when
an investor or fund manager analyzes and attempts to quantify the potential for losses in an
investment, such as a moral hazard, and then takes the appropriate action (or inaction) given the
fund's investment objectives and risk tolerance. In investing, risk and return are highly
correlated.

A STUDY OF INVOLVED IN HELPING BEHAVIOUR
DR. ANJANA SINHA
Abstract:
Let us consider an example; a man walking on the bank of a river hears cries
for he1p. He reacts immediately to the perception of that need in a behaviour
sequence designed to help the boy. If as a consequence he feels good about what he
did, it does not matter. If as a consequence he feels good about what he did, it does not
matter, he responded because of the need of the victim which is end-in-itself behaviour.
The boy saved might be a son of an affluent man and the benefactor might get a reward,
or national press coverage or coverage from electronic media. True, but the reason for
the behaviour was altruistic. May be the benefactor could not swim, as such he sought
someone who could swim or found a boat. The essence is, he helped because the
other person required that help.

A Study of Social Behaviour and Child Rearing Practices
Dr. Varsha Kumari
Abstract:
Over the past few decades, one of the most striking trends in developmental and
social psychology theory and research has been the increasingly cognitive emphasis in studies of
social interaction. In this field, ideas parents bring to the work of parenting constitute a
particularly interesting issue, making attention devoted to the cognitive aspects of parenting
worth noting. In everyday life, people often mark comments and judgments about ability and its
development, bear different perspectives about the nature of thinking and the way it is acquired
and hold ideas about children, their development and the nature of parental roles, These folk
perspectives characterize approaches to children and everyday ideas convey meaning that allow
people to understand their surrounding world. The study of parents’ social cognitions is,
therefore, important in and of itself.

Safe Drinking Water and Socio-economic Development in West Bengal:
An Attempt to Find Associations
Dr. Nisar Ahmed
Abstract:
Water which is used for drinking and cooking purpose can be defined as drinking water.
Water whether from treated or untreated sources if used for human consumption is
considered as drinking water. Drinking water is a prerequisite for human hygiene, sanitation
services, and food preparation. Accessibility of water affects time and health of people,
especially of women because in our country where rural people are predominant, women
have to take the responsibility of fetching water from the sources located outside of the
houses and sometimes they have to travel a very long distance.

Expectation and Unexpected Policy Change; Demonetisation
ABHINUB KUMAR
Abstract:
Expectations play an essential role in economic decision making. Every economic player has
to make some decisions to maximize their future utility. At the beginning of any period,
every economic player has to make decisions about the upcoming period; while making
decisions, they have to form expectations about the variables, e.g., future income, future
consumption, future interest rate, etc.. Households and private investors are the two important
economic players in the economy. Both of them have to maximize their satisfaction level by
making a better decision with the given constraint. In their decision-making process, they
have to accommodate the formed expectations about the variables. In maximizing their utility
level with the given constraint, households, as a consumer, have to forecast their future
income to make their consumption pattern smooth.

CHALLENGES OF EDUCATION AND SKILLS DEVELOPMENT OF WOMEM
(EMPOWERMENT)IN BIHAR
Sanjay kumarkushwaha
Abstract:
The present study was undertaken to ascertain the effect of rural development on the variousdimensions of
the respondents and the work of different Schemes/Yojanas and Projects provided by Government. It was
hypothesized that : (i) There would be significant effect of rural development on the education of the
respondents, (ii) There would be significant effect of rural development on the employmentof the
respondents, (iii)There would be significant effect of rural development on the femaleenterprise of the
respondents.Literacy and adult education appears to be the key interventions to address both the status and
position of women. Innovative implementation of literacy programmes, especially through institution
building of women may be an effective strategy that can be implmented by the government. Several NGOs
working in the field have demonstrated the viability of women sanghasor self-help groups in addressing the
issue of literacy. There is a need to address the functional literacy needs of women in order to enhance their
participation in economic and social spheres.Girl child education assumes importance in the context of
gendered-poverty of Bihar. There is a need to address the infrastructure deficiencies and human resource
requirements to enhance girl child participation. As most of the non-participation or drop-out of girls occur
due to lack of education facilities, there is a need to develop methodologies to identify the schooling needs in
rural areas and respond to the demand. School mapping exercise through community participation is needed
in order to create a demand system for school education. It is found to be a very highly motivating
experience for the rural communities to be involved in the school mapping exercises.

JOB SATISFACTION AND JOB INVOLVEMENT OF TEACHERS IN SCHOOL:
A STUDY
Dr. Shyam Sundar Sharma
Abstract:
Stress can be defined as the physiological and psychological reaction which occurs as
consequence of perception of an im-balance between the level of demand placed upon
individuals and their capabilities to meet those demands. Stress relates to the causes and
consequences of less than optimum perfor-mance which is attributable to motivation. Such
level of moti-vation by its nature or its intensity is inappropriate to the work being performed
and personality and abilities of the individual concerned.People with low hardiness may have
more difficulties in cop-ing with pressure to stress. Optimism is the extent to which a person
sees life in positive or negative terraces. Optimistic people handle stress better. They will be
able to see the posi-tive side of the situation and recognize that things may even-tually improve.
Less optimistic people may focus more on the negative side of the situation and expect things to
get worse and not better. Many things can cause stress. The two impor-tant categories are
Organizational stressors and Life stressors. Organizational stressors are factors in the work
place that can cause stress.

Financial Integration: Cost-benefit analysis for the ASEAN
Ajit Singh
Abstract:
This paper gives a comprehensive view of the cost-benefit analysis on the financial
integration with respect to the ASEAN Economies. On the basis of Economic indicators,
potential benefits and costs of financial integration have beenanalyzed and discussed. It
studies the impact and effects of financial openness and capital flows on consumption,
investment and growth. This paper argues that for developing economies, the benefits of
financial integration are greatly long term in nature, while costs can be higher in the short
term. It is, therefore, essential that careful preparation and management are ensured so that
short term costs do not lead to the reversal of policy decisions. Further, this paper discusses
the impact of the foreign direct investment (FDI) on domestic capital formation and
economic growth. It also discusses the impact of entry of the foreign banks on the domestic
financial system of the concerned economy.

Syncretism in the folk literature of char-chapori Muslims of Assam

Abstract:
About 18-20 percent of the population of Assam is composed of Muslims who migrated
from Greater Bengal (and later East Bengal) and settled in the chars and chaporis (riverine
islands and river banks) of Assam. These people are recent converts from Hinduism: most of
them being only third or fourth-generation Muslims and have, as a result, retained a number of
rituals from their erstwhile faith. Their relative seclusion (due to geographical isolation) from
the main streams of Islam in Assam and India until very recently means that a number of these
rituals are practiced without any fear of ostracism or deviation from mainstream Islam.
