Speaking Difficulties Encountered by EFL Learners: the case of Shupamem native speakers
AbassNgoungouoYiagnigni, NinonWokwenmendamNkouo
Abstract:
This paper investigates the speaking difficulties encountered by
Shupamem (a grassfield Bantu language spoken in the west region of
Cameroon) native speakers in learning English as a foreign language.
It is observed that despites the improvement of the teaching method
and materials in the Cameroonian secondary education, many
Shupamem speakers engaged in English learning do not speak
accurately. Based on the data collected from selected students of
Terminalein some schools of the Noun division where Shupamem is
spoken, the paper posits that the main challenges these learners face
are phonological and syntactic, originating from (i) the lack of
asymmetry between their L1’s sound system and that of English, and
(ii) the lack of a one to one correspondence between the position of
some English and Shupamem sentence constituents.

EFFECTIVENESS OF STRUCTURED TEACHING PROGRAMME ON KNOWLEDGE REGARDING GOOD TOUCH AND BAD TOUCH AMONG SCHOOL CHILDRENS IN SELECTED SCHOOLS
Mrs. SWAPNA M K
Abstract:
Sexual abuse is defined as inappropriate adolescent or adult sexual behavior with a child. It
includes fondling a child‟s genitals, making the child fondle and adult‟s genitals,
intercourse, incest, rape, sodomy, exhibitionism, sexual exploitation, or exposure to
pornography. Sexual abuse may be committed by a person under age 18 when that person
is either significantly older than the victim or is in a position of power or control over the
child. Sexual abuse may take place within the family, by a parent‟s boyfriend or girlfriend,
or at the hands of adult caretakers outside the family, for example, a family friend or
babysitter. Adults who sexually abuse children mostoften know and have a relationship
with the child. This is common and when these manifest, we need to re-direct the child‟s
attention, clearly informing the child about concepts like „good touch‟ and „bad
touch‟.Children must know that no one is ever allowed to touch their private parts, and that
it is important to keep these areas covered and safe in public spaces (which includes school
too). It is also important to teach children about respect for „body space‟. The Present
study aims to assess the effectiveness of STP on knowledge regarding good touch and bad
touch. One group pretest and post test design was adopted with purposive sampling and
the structured teaching Programme on Good touch and Bad touch was imparted. After
education, the Post test knowledge was assesed . The result shows that mean Post test
knowledge score was higher than mean Pre test score.

Dr. Indira Garnaik
Abstract:
Since decades migration, environmental situation, and security factor are
interrelated to one another and these factors push or pull people to migrate
throughout the world. In the current scenario when COVID-19 is declared as
epidemic in India, mass exodus at inter-state level is reached at its peak,
reason behind it is to secure themselves from disease and hunger due to shut
down of the entire economic and industrial activities in the country. In
course of inter-state migration specifically during epidemic, their security
and life are full of ambiguity and uncertainty. Security issue of migrants is
nothing new, but massive inter-state migration has arisen as a vital issue in
new form recently after the sudden lockdown of the country. Their security is
looked from the perspective of economic, food, political, physical,
psychological, and health matters. Now, the question is whether the
planners, scholars and policy makers are concerning this issue with gravity
or overlooking this great bulk of the amorphous informal workforce. Actions
taken by the states is undermining or protecting the safety and security of
these people in terms of socio-political inclusion. The present study attempts
to relate migration with the security issue and how and in what extent their
human security is endangered when startling epidemic COVID-19 is
shattered out in the country. Assessment of security effect of migrants in the
present scenario in terms of laws, policies, procedures, health and economy
of the country and finding out certain measures to sort-out the issue are the
key purposes of this paper.

An Evaluation of the human health and agricultural impacts of informal coal mining in Jaintia Hills of Meghalaya
Wistful In Excelsis Nongrem, Vanlalchhawna
Abstract:
Many tribal communities especially the poor rural households in the underdeveloped and
developing countries depend directly on endowed natural resources for their cash
livelihoods. The Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya is a unique region comprising of
aboriginal tribes with a matrilineal society is also a major coal producing area. The present
paper attempts to study the artisanal mine workers as they do not hesitate to do work even
under adverse climatic or working conditions which are largely operated in remote interior
areas. This paper also focused on mining of coal in the region where land is used primarily
for agricultural cultivation. Method of household surveys was employed in the study. A
total of 180 households were surveyed following a simple random sampling method and
where ever possible a visit to the coal quarries was made which was based on the larger
number of coal workers at the mining sites. Chi square was employed as the statistical
technique for the present study. It was observed that with the starting of mining operation
occupational diseases or accidents of coal workers and their family members has been
ignored due to the stigma of illegality. Agricultural production has decreased over the
years due to scarcity of agricultural labourer around mining region with 52.2 % of the local
households have focussed on coal activities. Coal mining work in Jaintia Hills is an
additional source of income to the rural population and migrants or the so-called socioeconomically marginalised groups.

Investigation & Examination of Noise Pollution - Definition, Sources, Effects, Monitoring and Control
Madhu Bala, Deepak Verma
Abstract:
Purpose – The study examines and investigates the problem of noise pollution in
relation to its harmful effects on the human life. This study provides most
appropriate definition of noise, identifies various sources of noise, investigates
awareness level of public for noise, examines harmful effects of excessive noise
and provides valuable suggestions for controlling the noise level. Methodology -
This study is based on primary data collected from population of Delhi through a
structured online questionnaire with sample of 350 respondents. The analysis has
been carried out based on “cross-classifications‟ in terms of „age‟ as well as
„gender‟. Findings – This study revealed that male community is more aware
about the noise pollution compared to female community. Most of the
community is ignorant of what constitutes noise pollution as well as its adverse
socio-economic & health impacts. Further the control of noise pollution has been
hampered by insufficient knowledge of its harmful effects on human. The sound
from traffic and loudspeakers is turned out major sources of outdoor noise
pollutants. Primarily “traffic volume” expanded by road, rail and air traffic as a
noise has gained wider recognition in terms of increasingly serious risk to human
health. In case of indoor pollutants, television and different home appliances are
reported as major noise sources. Even youngsters are also victim of noise at large
scale. Noise extensively results in annoyance, disturb sleep, harmful effect on
hearing, reduce working efficiency and interfere with communication. Public
awareness programmes, education and technological solutions appeared to be the
best methods to achieve the goal of noise reduction. Government can also play a
significant role in putting efforts towards reduction of noise level by establishing
& enforcing noise guidelines, standards and strict regulatory framework.
Research Limitations and Practical implications – This study is limited to
population of Delhi metro city in India. The findings in this study have several
policy implications. Government should develop management strategies and
action plans for noise control. The empirical evidences gathered through this
study can be employed for developing appropriate legal and public action
programs and awareness programs to disseminate knowledge about harmful
effects of noise on human health and routine life.

will deeply affect the Agriculture and allied activities, Aviation,
Entertainment/sports/events, Retail sectors, tourism and travel sector. It is already clear
now that its economic impact would be more severe that in the case of the Severe Acute
Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) in 2002-2003. Although not as deadly as SARS,
coronavirus infection has a longer incubation period and leaves about 85% of the infected
without any (or with just mild) symptoms which makes it more difficult to track and to
contain. Moreover, it appears to be much more spreadable than its ancestor. The good
news is that most people recover from the disease and develop antibodies that can protect
