ECOLOGY AND BIODIVERSITY
PROTECTION AND CONSERVATION: ISSUES AND CHALLENGES
Dr. Jharna Banerjie
Abstract:
This planet is full of diversity amongst the species which were here since the beginning of
life, but we can’t say for how long this biodiversity will exist. Due to some very careless
actions by humans some species have extinct and many are in danger of getting extinct
soon. Agriculture is a leading threat to many species. Almost 80% of threatened species are
affected by more than one threat. Biodiversity is very important for us, plants – mainly
trees – dominate life on Earth: they account for more than 82% of biomass. Humans
account for just 0.01% of biomass. After considering the damage done to the environment
governments have taken many steps for protection and conservation through which we are
successful to save some species from getting extinct

Effect of SBS Modified Bituminous Binder on Pavement Performances
Lokesh Kumar
Abstract:
SBS modified bituminous binder consisting of 4, 4.5, 5, 5.5 and 6 weight % of bitumen
was prepared in high speed sheer mixer. Their performance in relation to temperature
susceptibility, low temperature cracking, fatigue, rutting in hot condition and workability
was tested by penetration, softening point, viscosity and ductility test as per their standard
specifications. It is found that with increasing amount of SBS in bituminous binder, the
penetration value decreases and softening point increases, which shows improved high
temperature performance of modified bituminous binder. The increased value of ductility
confirms an improvement in low temperature performance of SBS modified bituminous
binder. However, a linearly decreased in penetration index was observed after the blending
of SBS with bitumen more than 4% by weight showing the temperature sensitivity.
Therefore, the 4% dosages of SBS is the optimized amount to achieve improved
performances of SBS modified bituminous binder

MOLECULAR GEOMETRY AND THERMODYNAMIC PARAMETERS OF
6-AMINO-1,3-DIPROPYL URACIL BY USING HARTREE FOCK AND
DENSITY FUNCTIONAL THEORY
Anju Singh
Abstract:
Quantum mechanical calculations of energies, geometries
and thermodynamic parameters of 6-Amino-1,3-
Dipropyl Uracil were carried out by using ab initio HF
theory with 6-31+G(d,p) and 6-311++G(d,p) basis sets
and density functional theory (DFT/B3LYP) with 6-
31+G(d,p) basis set. The optimized geometrical
parameters such as bond length, bond angles etc obtained
by HF and DFT calculations are in good agreement with
each other. The thermodynamic parameters such as total
thermal energy, Enthalpy heat capacity, entropy have also
been computed in the temperature range 200-1500 K by
using the standard expressions under the rigid rotator
harmonic oscillator approximation.

STUDY ON HOST-PARASITE RELATIONSHIP OF FRESHWATER
SNAILS AND LARVAL TREMATODES OF MEERUT DISTRICT, UP
Dr.Anjula Jain
Abstract:
Snail is known to serve as an intermediate host for several species of larval trematodes
some of which are highly pathogenic for their second intermediate host i.e fishes. If we
want the fisheries development programmes to be successful, we need to intensive research
on the fish parasites and their intermediate host. These parasites also provoke remarkable
mortality to human and cause serious damages to aquaculture, which is a valuable source
of food and employment in developing countries, basically deals with the studies on effect
of parasite i.e. cercariae that were found in various water bodies of Meerut region infecting
the host B. bengalensis and L.luteola. Recent investigations have shown that some of the
molluscs are sources of important bio medical compound. The World Health Organization
(WHO) is therefore, paying special attention to this dynamic host-parasite interaction of
larval trematodes and snail control. Although the effects of digenetic trematodes on their
vertebrate hosts have been studied, comparatively little attention has been paid towards the
host-parasite relationship between the larval trematodes and their molluscan hosts.
